Reaching Juveniles with Difficult Pasts

Monday Morning

There were 11 members and three guests present at the Monday meeting. Lisa Frankow, Sara Gerritson and Vicente Morales were our guests. Vicente is a prospective new member. Marlin did the grace. Jackie & John were our greeters. Happy dollars, John was happy.  Steve had the humor. Dan announced that “Souped Up” is February 7th this year. See Dan for tickets. Dan is also the chef for all the soup. Pete is looking for a third delegate to the District Midwinter on Feb. 16th. Chris took eight members to an interclub at the Noon Club.  John was winner and loser. He picked the Six of Hearts. There are 46 cards left with a pot of $90.00. Remember that we have a Kiwanis web page and Facebook. If you are on Facebook, you can like our page.

Lisa Frankow & Sara Gerritson, Fond du Lac Detention Classroom

Lisa Frankow and Sara Gerritson are teachers with the Fond du Lac School District who teach in the Fond du Lac County Detention. Lisa teaches students from ages 10 to 17. She works to keep them up to date on the work that they are missing. The hope is that they graduate from high school. Lisa helps the older student to get their GED or equivalent. Fond du Lac Jail program can house twenty seven juveniles.  Some will come from other countries if space is available. How can we help them with their students? In addition to money to supplement their budget, they need volunteers to share their skills with the students.
