What Can You Do to Empower Fond du Lac Women?

 

Monday Morning

There were 15 members plus one guest, Lori Namur at our Monday meeting. Dave Krug was our greeter. Dan had grace.  Charlene had humor.  Gary, Bonnie, Pete, Dan, Glen and John had  happy bucks. Boys/Girls Club have their annual fund raiser “Reach for the Stars” February 9th at Holiday Inn. John was our winner and loser. He drew the seven clubs. There are 41 cards left and a pot of $175.00. Fond du Lac Area Women’s Fund, Lori Namur

Bonnie presented a $200 check to Lori Namur, executive director of the Woman’s Fund. The Women’s Fund has been promoting positive change in the lives of Fond du lac area women and girls since 2004. Fond du lac says “No More” is their current initiative, addressing the issue of violence against women and children in our area. They work with the police departments, ASTOP, Solution Center, Agnesian Domestic Violence department to achieve this goal. This is a three year focus. Year one is community awareness and engagement. Year two is to actively engage men and boys in outreach strategy. Year three is to educate the community on the dynamics of healthy relationships. Help them take a stand for “No More.” To help, there will be a bystander training this fall. To fund these activities, they host Power of Purse fund raiser. What’s Happening in the Best City in Wisconsin?

There were 14 members and one quest at our Monday meeting. Jordan Skiff  was our guest speaker. Charlene and Steve were our greeters. Jackie had grace.  Gary had a happy buck. Charlene had humor. Charlene needs candy for the Cardinal Singers. Mark started the signup sheet for the December 4th Bell ringing. Gary Miller was our winner and loser. He drew the six of clubs. City of Fond du Lac, Jordan Skiff

Jordan is the Director of Public works. He presented a number projects in the City of Fond du Lac that will need financial help in the future. There is need to do the final dress up on the bike loop. Plans are to redo the pavilion in Lakeside Park. It will start in 2020 and finish in 2021. The $200,000 is in the budget for the splash pad in 2018. For the Sturgeon Spectacular, there will be ice skating on Oven Island. Plans are to add a number of kayak launches in different area of the park. They would like to do a second Police Memorial on the new Police Memorial Dr. The Miracle Baseball League would like a new diamond at Plamore Park. The Friends of McDermott Park want to add more items. Other construction in the city is work on Fond du Lac Ave. in 2018. In 2020, they will add a roundabout at the K/C hall. Giving ‘Til We Give Out

There were 17 members at our Monday meeting .Jim. Pete & John were our greeters. John had the grace. Dawn had a happy buck.  Dawn announced that the District WI-UM convention is in Fond du Lac August 18-20th.  She is looking for attendees and volunteers to work the event. Melissa Schmidt will represent the club at the Boys and Girls Club Annual Spelling Bee in October.  Gary organized an interclub for the Noon Club on Tuesday. Sharon, Jackie, Gary Miller and John attended the Noon Club Tuesday. Pete was the winner and a loser. He picked the King of Spades. There are 43 cards left and a pot of $112.00.  Remember that we have a Kiwanis web page and Facebook.
