Kiwanis Happenings – November 17
Monday Morning
We had 21 members and our two guest speakers, FDL Police Chief Bill Lamb and Officer Ryan Williams, at Monday’s meeting. “Happy Bucks” were offered by Gary Miller celebrating the decision to keep Taylor Park Pool open and by Bonnie Baerwald for a great vacation to San Diego, where she took in a Packer win at Qualcomm Stadium. Del Waldschmidt was the 50/50 Raffle winner and he drew the five of Clubs, a $5 winner. There’s still plenty of money left in the Raffle for next week.
FdL Police Officer Ryan Williams
FDL Police Chief Bill Lamb started our program on Monday by telling us a little about himself, how long he’s been Chief and recent budget negotiations and the impact on the Police Department. He then turned the program over to Officer Ryan Williams who told us about his experience this past spring when he was shot on duty and one of his fellow officers was killed in the line of duty. Officer Williams talked about his mission to talk with fellow officers that you can survive such an event. Officer Williams also talked about a fundraising bike tour, “Unity Tour”, that he and two fellow FDL Officers are preparing for this summer. Officer Williams also brought along the vests that saved his life and the bullet fragments that came from his wounds. Very interesting program and truly one of our local heroes.

Kiwanis Happenings – October 27
We currently have several opportunities available for community service and volunteer work
Monday Morning
We had 17 members and three guests at Monday’s meeting. Joining us as guests were Diane Bunger and Ann Kallas from Rienzi Cemetery and our guest speaker, Dr. Ryan Haus of Fond du Lac Youth Wrestling. A donation of $314 was made to Rienzi Cemetery for the proceeds from the Brat Fry at the 3rd Annual Harvest Stroll. “Happy Bucks” were offered by Chris Serres for her surviving 27 hours of being in the car on her trip to Arkansas and back to visit her sister, and $2 by Gary Ring, one to honor Bonnie Baerwald’s efforts to start a Satellite Club at MPTC and sponsoring six new members for that Club and the other to honor Gary Miller for sponsoring two new members to the MPTC Satellite Club. Dave Twohig was the 50/50 Raffle winner and he drew the nine of clubs, not a winner so the pot continues to grow.
Dr. Ryan Haus FDL Youth Wrestling
Dr. Ryan Haus was born and raised in Fond du Lac and is a colleague of our very own Vickie Goldapske. Ryan is a family practice chiropractor with certifications in sports medicine and strength and conditioning. Ryan started wrestling at age five and has been involved with the sport ever since. When Ryan came back to Fond du Lac, he started his involvement with the FDL Youth Wrestling Program.
The Fond du Lac Wrestling Club was established many years ago with a mission to promote the sport of wrestling in the Fond du Lac area. As a club and non-profit organization, they aim to provide wrestling instruction for youths aged 5-18, to provide finan-cial assistance to the numerous school teams, and to promote the sport of wrestling to the public. Quality, experienced coaches provide wrestling instruction with an emphasis on fundamentals. Each child is given group and individualized instruction dependent on skill level. Fundraising by the club allows them to continue providing our school teams with the equipment, uniforms, mats, etc. that they require to be successful. Wrestling is a unique sport in that it provides both physical and mental development, as well as both team and individual competitions. The Fond du Lac Wrestling Club strives to help give each youth wrestler the skills to achieve suc-cess on the mat as well as off mat. Most important is that wrestling is fun.
