Monday Morning

We had fourteen members that braved the bitter cold on Monday for our regular Monday meeting.  We called off our scheduled speaker, Linus Doll, and will bring him back on January 20th.  Vickie Goldapske drew the Ten of Spades in the 50/50 Raffle, which won her a slightly used $10 bill.  Way to go Vickie.  Next week’s drawing will have 38 cards with seven pay cards and a pot of at least $183.

 Roundtable Discussion

Vice President Gary Miller ran Monday’s meeting and asked everyone in attendance to tell a little something about what’s going on in our lives.  Gary started by giving John Cooper a five quart ice cream bucket to start building our inventory in advance of Walleye Weekend.  We use the ice cream buckets to mix cheese curd batter so all members are encouraged to start eating ice cream and bring the empty buckets to a Monday meeting.  Gary also mentioned that the Friends of Taylor Park Pool was holding their Annual Blues Concert Fundraiser on Saturday, February 8th at the Elks Club.  Steve Millin mentioned that Brew Fest is being held at the Fairgrounds on Saturday, February 1st from 5:00 – 9:00PM.  Dan Leeds reminded the group that the Annual Trinity Baptist School Auction is coming up on Friday evening, January 31st at the school.  The Silent Auction and Concessions start at 5:00PM with the live auction starting at 7:00PM.  Bonnie Baerwald shared that she and Lisa had a great vacation in San Antonio and that it was 71 degrees when they left on Saturday and returned to the deep freeze.  Vickie Goldapske noted that Dynamic Chiropractic & Wellness Center was having an Open House on Saturday, January 25th, from 10:00AM – Noon.  They’ll have an Acupuncturist and Massage Therapist on site as well healthy eating demonstrations.  Dave Twohig reminded everyone of the Ski Outing on February 8th and encouraged everyone to bring their kids and/or grandkids for a day of fun.  Del Waldschmidt announced that he fully retired effective the first of January.  Del’s son and son-in-law took over the overnight livery business and someone else took over the county medical examiner work.  Del is now able to sleep through the night. Greg Brunette announced that his tax season will be very different this year as he no longer works at Schenk.  Greg is now the CFO at Jackson Kahl Insurance Agency as of about seven weeks ago.  Not doing taxes from January to mid-April will be very different for Greg. Finally, it was noted that Kyp Buth, a member from a lot of years ago, passed away on New Year’s Day in Milwaukee.
