Camp Wawbeek, Easter Seals, Carissa Peterson
Camp Wawbeek offers campers with physical or mild cognitive disabilities a camping experience they will never forget. All sessions are based on age or needs of the campers. Wisconsin Elks/Easter Seals Respite Camp offers a one to one staff ratio that allows us to customize the camp experience for each camper. Carissa is Director of Respite Services and also a member of the Dells Kiwanis Club. Wawbeek was started in 1938. The camp is staffed by college student and members of Americore. Kiwanis has supported the camp for many years. This year’s Governor’s project is a new playground for children with is disabilities. They have twenty buildings, three wells and a pool that Kiwanis helped build. Around 1,400 campers use the camp every year.
