2012 Pork Fest is a Huge Success

Monday Morning
We had 19 members at our first Monday meeting at our new location at Main Street Lounge & Café and also the first meeting under our new President, Marlin Towne. Bonnie Baerwald announced that the “Walk to End Alzheimer’s” will be Saturday morning (10/6) at MPTC. Our Club is sponsoring the food and Bonnie could use a couple of helpers to layout the breakfast items Saturday morning around 8:00AM. Our Club is also sponsoring two teams in the walk, Del Waldschmidt’ s team and Kathy Hass’ team. “Happy Bucks” were offered by Bonnie Baerwald for surviving Sunday’s Packer game at Lambeau Field, Steve Millin for his first ever hole-in-one with his wife, Mary, as his witness, Glen Treml for another grandchild on the way and Gary Ring, who was glad to see Kathy Schreiber back. Kathy Schreiber was the 50/50 Raffle winner and she drew the Queen of Hearts, the big winner. Unfortunately, the pot was a lot smaller than it was a couple of weeks ago, but Kathy still got half of what was in the kitty. A new game starts on Monday.

Marlin Towne, Pork Fest Report
Marlin reported that we had 1,724 meal tickets turned in on Thursday night with 843 of those take outs and 881 eat ins. Of those 1,724 tickets, 186 of those sales were at the door, up about 40 from last year. The Take Out operation was described as Fast and Furious while the dining room operation also bordered on chaotic. Thank goodness for the 15 excellent workers from Trinity Baptist Church in helping maintain some semblance of order. After all 1,800 chops were grilled and everyone had a chance to eat, there were only 21 chops left. The Raffle was another large success with a net profit of $773. Thanks to everyone that helped out on Wednesday, Thursday and the many days running up to the event. Final numbers will be reported as soon as they are available.
