Why You Should Visit the Y

Monday Morning

There were 12 members at our Monday meeting plus two guests. Joining us were our speakers, Ali Harasha and Alexis Berg.  We were greeted by Glen. Steve handled the prayer and rumor. Side note – Del is at home. Call for an appointment to visit. Next Monday’s 50/50 Harry was the winner. He drew the Jack of Hearts, no winner. Raffle will have 20 cards in the game including the five pay cards with a pot of about $431.  We have a work day to paint buildings at the Children Museum on July8/9th.  In addition, we will have prep day to get some of the displays on the building ready on July 6th at 4:30 at MPTC. Bonnie has the signup sheet.  We have a projector for our speakers; please contact Gary Miller if you need it. Speaking of programs for the future, get information to Dave or myself.

Ali Harasha & Alexis Berg, Fond du Lac YMCA

Ali is Sports & Fitness coordinator at the YMCA. The Y is offering Healthy Living Exercise Program. It is three phases over twelve weeks. The program is free. The wellness coaches will work one on one to increase physical activity in a safe and engaging program. Ali is also in charge of the personal trainers at the Y. Alexis is responsible for the Parkinson’s program, diabetes prevention program and Livestrong. Livestrong is 12 week program using exercise methods to ease cancer survivors back into fitness.  These are just a small portion of the programs that the Ymca offers. In some from, we all need 150 minutes of exercise each week.

A Much Needed Help Center

Monday Morning

There were 16 members at our Monday meeting plus one guest. Maggie Weisen was our guest speaker.  Charlene had the humor. She is almost professional. We were greeted by the Gary Miller and Charlene.  Dave LeFeber led us in grace. Happy bucks came from Bonnie, Gary Miller and Chris. Bonnie gave a special thank you for all those who worked the trail cleanup on Saturday.  We had twelve hard workers.  Jackie was the raffle winner again. She picked the eight of spades, no winner.  Next Monday’s 50/50 Raffle will have 23 cards in the game including the five pay cards with a pot of about $393.  We have a projector for our speakers; please contact Gary Miller if you need it. Speaking of programs for the future, get information to Dave or myself. We have donated money to support Dream Catchers. They have two games in May, the 7th and 21st. Maggie Weisen, Charis Pregnancy Help Center

Maggie has been the driving force behind starting Charis Pregnancy Help Center. Vision – Charis will offer pregnancy options education in a non-judgmental; Christ centered environment; giving hope to those who don’t know where to turn and helping to break generational cycles of dysfunction by responsibly distributing resources that are “earned”. Maggie has been a RN since 1984. She is basing Charis, which means grace, on the Hospice program. The program should be up and running by July 1st. All services are confidential and will be at no cost to the clients. The Help Center will be a clinic that specializes in pregnancy diagnosis and pregnancy decisions. All medical services are provided under the supervision of a Wisconsin licensed physician. Services include pregnancy testing, obstetrical ultrasounds, medical referrals and reproductive health information. Charis does not perform or refer for abortions. Fund raising includes coins in baby bottle, baby showers and bake sales. They will take no government funding.

The-Meadows

May 2nd meeting, there were 16 members at our Monday meeting plus three guests. Donna Miller, Lisa Thompson, and Becky Cnszynski joined us. Rumor, Donna put a deposit down for Gary at the Meadows. We were greeted by the Harry and Steve.  Dan led us in grace. Happy bucks came from Mark, Steve and Dawn. We got an invitation to United Singers Concert on May 10th. Bonnie was the raffle winner again. She picked the nine of spades, no winner.  Next Monday’s 50/50 Raffle will have 22 cards in the game including the five pay cards with a pot of about $379.  We have a projector for our speakers; please contact Gary Miller if you need it. Save the dates, more detail on the group to follow. Bonnie announced the trail pickup will be 8:00 on May 14th. Breakfast will be provided prior at Pump and Pantry on the club. If you are not signed up, call Bonnie or just show up. Weather will be great.

Diane Roberts & Tim Burns, The Meadows

Diane Roberts, Activities Director and Tim Burns, Project Director lead us on the tour of The Meadows. This is their fourth Assisted Living Development. There will be 71 units at The Meadows. Like our club, the median age of their facilities is 85. Current occupancy is seven units with nine more to open soon. They serve three meals a day plus snacks. Prices start at $2,500. Amenities include pool, gazebo, sauna, future fitness center, outdoor walking track and commercial washers and dryers. Currently, there is no entry fee. However, first and last month’s rent is needed for deposit. You need proof of financial ability to pay two years rent. Overall impression is very nice. Thanks Gary for the tour.
