Merry Christmas!

Monday Morning

There were 19 members at our Monday meeting plus twenty seven guests. We had Dick Taddey from the Noon Club plus twelve family members. Dale Witte, chorale director plus thirteen students from the Academy Kids had breakfast with us before their performance. Dale and the students were from Winnebago Lutheran Academy.  Gary Ring was our greeter. Dan had grace.  Special thanks to Gary Miller and Jan for putting the Christmas program together. Gary had Christmas bags for all the singers. Pete won again and drew the eight of clubs, no winner.  We have 39cards, 6 winners and a pot of $200.00. Dale Witte, WLA Academy Kids

We were treated to many new and old Christmas carols. The Academy Kids were from Winnebago Lutheran Academy. Dale and the student intern from Martin Luther College directed the student in their Christmas Carols. WLA is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Synod. And it is the second oldest WELS High Schools in Wisconsin. Both the students and their intern finished up the school on Thursday. Special thanks to Dale and the students. United to Help

Monday Morning

There were 14 members at our Monday meeting plus one guest, Amber Kilawee. Amber was our guest speaker.  John and Bonnie were our greeters. Glen had grace. Harry had the humor. Happy bucks came from Bonnie, Sharon, Jim and Dan. Jim won again and drew the queen of diamonds, no winner.  We have 40cards, 6 winners and a pot of $150.00. Amber Kilawee, United Way

Amber Kilawee Director of the Fond du Lac United Way was our program on Monday. The fund Raising Committee presented a check for $800.00 from proceeds of Fondue Fest. United Way funded over $570,000 last year. There are twenty six different agencies from Habitat to Astop. In between, there is Senior Center, Girl Scouts, YMCA and Catholic Charities to name a few. Almost 30,000 individuals are served by United Way agencies. Harry’s check presentation photo and a link to their video (Fred) are on our Facebook. The Best Downtown in America

Monday Morning

There were 16 members at our Monday meeting plus one guest, Amy Hansen. Amy was our guest speaker.  Chris and Marlin were our greeters. Charlene had grace. Charlene also had the humor. Happy bucks came from Gary Miller. John won again and drew the two of diamonds and won nothing.  We have 43 cards, 7 winners and a pot of $75.00. Fourteen members qualified for the rewards program for last year. Their charity will receive $50 from the Kiwanis.   Rules of the program are participating in three fund raising events for total of at least twenty hours, participate in two interclubs, and participate in two community service projects. All activities must be reported to Harry. Amy Hansen, Downtown Fond du Lac

Amy has been with Downtown Fond du Lac for nine years. The two main events that impacted the downtown area are the Hwy 41 by- pass and the Forest Mall. The downtown has 285 businesses within its boundaries. The Downtown is a 501c 3 under the direction of the City of Fond du Lac. Their main event is Fondue Fest. They also have the Monster Walk, Art Walk and Shop Small event. In addition, they sponsor the Farmers Markets, Wine Walk and Best of Ale Walk. There are twenty four different businesses that offer food. They hosted a “walk at night” with the city and police department to review security in the downtown. Two major changes in the downtown are sale of the Retlaw and new apartments in the old Fond du Lac Dept. Store. For more information on Downtown Fond du Lac, go to www.downtownfdl.com .
