Tracy Reinhardt, Lakeside Park Photo History

Tracy has collected a number of Langdon Divers’s photos of Lakeside Park. Lakeside was just a marsh on Lake Winnebago in the early days. There was more water than land in the beginning. The first pavilion was built at the end of Main St, in 1905. In 1921 the trolley ran to the park along Main St.. Other attractions to the park in the early days were camping, boat houses, and skating. They had races on the ice. As part of beach, a 60 slide was built in 1921. The beach and bath houses closed in 1965 due to the poor water quality. In 1924 they built the present band stand and a giant sandbox. The band stand is still there. Tracy works at the Galloway house and loves to collect history on Fond du Lac. Tracy has a great program on the night the churches burned in Fond du Lac.

Mark Luttenberg, Trip to Italy

Mark and Gail Luttenberger talked about their 2nd trip to Italy. They booked the trip thru Globus. They arrived in Rome five days early. The trip traveled to Lugano in the North and Capri in the South. In addition to Rome, they saw Pompeii, Sorrento, Assisi, Venice Island, Florence and Pisa to name a few. We will not be able to describe the great photos that Gail and Mark took in this newsletter. Rome has over four million people. It is hot and dry in the summer.  The Vatican is on the highest hill in Rome. It is a separate state. Side note – they did celebrated both their birthdays and anniversary in Italy. For more information or a great program, contact Mark and Gail. Thank you for sharing your 2nd trip to Italy.
