What’s Happening in the Best City in Wisconsin?

Monday Morning

There were 14 members and one quest at our Monday meeting. Jordan Skiff  was our guest speaker. Charlene and Steve were our greeters. Jackie had grace.  Gary had a happy buck. Charlene had humor. Charlene needs candy for the Cardinal Singers. Mark started the signup sheet for the December 4th Bell ringing. Gary Miller was our winner and loser. He drew the six of clubs. City of Fond du Lac, Jordan Skiff

Jordan is the Director of Public works. He presented a number projects in the City of Fond du Lac that will need financial help in the future. There is need to do the final dress up on the bike loop. Plans are to redo the pavilion in Lakeside Park. It will start in 2020 and finish in 2021. The $200,000 is in the budget for the splash pad in 2018. For the Sturgeon Spectacular, there will be ice skating on Oven Island. Plans are to add a number of kayak launches in different area of the park. They would like to do a second Police Memorial on the new Police Memorial Dr. The Miracle Baseball League would like a new diamond at Plamore Park. The Friends of McDermott Park want to add more items. Other construction in the city is work on Fond du Lac Ave. in 2018. In 2020, they will add a roundabout at the K/C hall. Life Enforcement, Keywon Brown

Life Enforcement is hosting the Fourth Annual Christmas Dinner. They host it December 20th at the K/C Hall. It is open to the public and sponsored families. Last year they served 240 people. We donated $150 towards a sponsored family. They have Santa, gifts for the kids and craft activity for the kids. Other activities from Life Enforcement include “Pay it forward” gift cards at the grocery store, secret Valentine admirers at nursing homes. Their only fund raiser last year was the bean bag toss at Walleye Weekend. Their goal is selfness acts of kindness by doing random act of kindnesses for the community.  For more information on their group, go to www.lifeforcement.com

Making Life’s Struggles Bearable

Salvation Army, Captain Wilson

Captain Wilson brought us up to date on all the activities for November and December. The Warming Shelter is open for the season. They can house forty people. They need volunteers for the shelter and volunteers to make dinner meals for the residents. They provide dinner seven days a week. They held the coats give away in October. They gave away 900 coats. They are working on the Christmas give away. It will be held December 13th at Fair Grounds Recreation Center. The Bell Ringing goal is $160,000. On November 28th, Thivent will match all collections up to $10,000. The bucket brigade is December 1st at KFIZ and Save A Lot parking’s lots. Michel’s will match all funds up to $8,000. We will ring bells for Salvation Army on December 4th from 4-8:00.
