How to Develop Key Leaders

Monday Morning

There were 14 members at our Monday meeting plus three guests. Our guests, Marisa Strobel, Ashley Waldvogel, Rachel hays talked to us about Key Leader program. Jan was our greeter. Dan had the grace. Harry had humor and  it was good. Please get all money and tickets to Marlin as soon as possible. Pete drew the two of spades and won nothing.  We have 46 cards, 7 winners and a pot of $25.00. Fourteen members qualified for the rewards program for last year. Their charity will receive $50 from the Kiwanis. All winners need to get their Charity to Harry.  Rules of the program; participate in three fund raising events for total of at least twenty hours, participate in two interclubs, participate in two community service projects. All activities must be reported to Harry. Any questions please check with Harry.  Side note – Del is at home and loves visitors.  ATTENTION – Dawn is looking for a volunteer to be our Vice President for the coming year. See Dawn for details. Highlight of the installation banquet. Anne Lemke was named Kiwanian of the Year. Remember that we have a Kiwanis web page and Facebook. Key Leader Program

Our club sponsored three students from the high schools to attend this year’s program in September at Camp Wawbeek. The Key Leader program is twelve years old. They have offered 569 programs to over 28,000 high school students. It is open to all high school students. Over 75% of the students are Key Club members. Gary and Donna Miller took our students to the event in September. Ashley and Rachel are from Fond du Lac High School. Marisa is from North Fond du Lac High School. It was three days of building leadership skills and team building. The three students did demonstration some of the activities, such as effective listening.

 

The Best Thing About Kiwanis

Monday Morning

There were 11 members at our Monday meeting. We were greeted by the Chris Stelmacher and the Key Club members.  We have all kinds of fund raisers, Gary Ring for Grief Relief, and Pete for South Shore Coracle on April 23 & 24th.  Next Monday’s 50/50 Raffle will have 24 cards in the game including the five pay cards with a pot of about $360.  We have a projector for our speakers; please contact Gary Miller if you need it. Speaking of programs for the future, get information to Dave or myself. We have donated money to support Dream Catchers. They have two games in May, the 7th and 21st. Save the dates, more detail on the group to follow.

Key Club Breakfast

The Key Club provided a great breakfast on Monday. In addition to introducing this year’s officers and next year’s officers, they listed all their projects for the year. They had over fifty community events and programs on their chart. The newest event was the Teddy Bear sleep over at the library. Thirty teddy bears stayed overnight with the Key Club members. They put together a power point of the bear’s activities. In addition the kids got story and book from Storybook Land of the Key Club. The Key Club was chartered in 1991. Chris Stelmacher has been one of the advisors for twenty five years. Gary Miller presented a plaque for her years of service. In addition, Gary presented a monetary award to both Chris and Sandy for their service to Key Club. We thank both Chris and Sandy. Mandy Liebenow was introduced as the new advisor with Chris. Principal Michelle Hagen and two other assistant principals were also introduced. Again thank you to the Key Club.

Fondy Key Club Update

There were 19 members at our Monday meeting plus one guest. Our guest speaker was a no show. Key Club Officer, Alyssa Weiorka joined us for breakfast. “Happy Bucks” were offered by Jim Freiberg, Del Waldschmidt, Gary Miller and Jan Krug. Marlin needs your ticket sales money as soon as possible.

Dan Leeds was the winner of the 50/50 raffle drawing and he drew the five of clubs for $5.00 dollars Next Monday’s 50/50 Raffle will have 49 cards in the game including the eight pay cards.

Alyssa Weiorka, Fondy High Key Club President

Alyssa filled in for our missing speaker. She is a senior and transferred from WLA. She joined the Key Club to get more involved in helping others. Her first choice for college is Northwestern. She thanked our club for all our support. One of the officer’s goals is to increase the number of events. They are working harder to get better attendance from the Key Club to our club. Some of their events are ARC Christmas bingo party, books to the hospital, Halloween events and the Pink Pumpkin Race. They sold candy for their first fund raiser of the year. They have ninety paid members.

Hixson Award Winners

The board of Directors awarded two Hixsons this year. A $1,000 donation has been made to Kiwanis International Foundation in of the name of Sharon Kollman and Pastor Dan Leeds. This is to recognize these individuals for their hard work for Kiwanis. Congratulation to both Sharon and Dan.
