Experiencing Italy

Monday Morning

There were 18 members and four guests at our Monday meeting. Key Clubbers, Ashley Waldvogel and Rachel Hays stopped by for breakfast and brought us candy to buy. Gail Luttenberger joined us to hear Mark’s program. Joe Truesdale joined us to talk about his program, Ideacamp.. Harry was our greeter. Harry and Jan had happy bucks. Harry had the grace. Harry announced preliminary numbers on Pork Fest. We had 1,375 tickets turned in for dinner.  Profits look to be around $8,900.Reminder from Anne Lemke, be sure to “Like” our Kiwanis page on Instagram.  Melissa Schmidt will represent the club at the Boys and Girls Club Annual Spelling Bee in October. Mark was our winner and loser. He drew the nine of spades. There are 37 cards left and a pot of $210.00. Remember that we have a Kiwanis web page and Facebook. Mark Luttenberg, Trip to Italy

Mark and Gail Luttenberger talked about their 2nd trip to Italy. They booked the trip thru Globus. They arrived in Rome five days early. The trip traveled to Lugano in the North and Capri in the South. In addition to Rome, they saw Pompeii, Sorrento, Assisi, Venice Island, Florence and Pisa to name a few. We will not be able to describe the great photos that Gail and Mark took in this newsletter. Rome has over four million people. It is hot and dry in the summer.  The Vatican is on the highest hill in Rome. It is a separate state. Side note – they did celebrated both their birthdays and anniversary in Italy. Doing Saintly Work for the Community

There were 16 members and one guest, Audrey Watry at our Monday meeting.  Charlene and Steve were our greeters. Dan did the humor. Dawn had the grace.   Need your help, please review your rewards totals from Harry. It was in an email from September 3rd. Reminder from Anne Lemke, be sure to “Like” our Kiwanis page on Instagram.  Melissa Schmidt will represent the club at the Boys and Girls Club Annual Spelling Bee in October. Jim was our winner and loser. He drew the eight of clubs. There are 38 cards left and a pot of $200.00. We had an interclub on Tuesday at the Noon Club. Audrey Watry, St. Vincent De Paul

Inspired by gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization leads women and  men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person to person service to the needy and suffering in tradition of its founder Blessed Frederic Ozanam and its patron St. Vincent de Paul. All money raised by your donation of good goes back into the community. They have been at the old Copps store for about five years. Their prior location by the Holiday Inn has been donated to the Fondy Food Pantry. It will open soon. They are the largest lay organization. In addition to donation of goods and buying at the store, you can donate $100 for a “Helping Others Tile”. Be sure to buy a Vinny Card for $5.28 to be eligible for their special sales days. For furniture pickup dial 322-9505. To get help with rent, utilities, or food call 933-3650.

Charlene, Mark, Dan, Bonnie and Gary Miller had happy bucks. Gary Miller and Pete are looking for two more golfers to attend Ripon Early Bird Golf outing on September 6th.   Melissa Schmidt will represent the club at the Boys and Girls Club Annual Spelling Bee in October.  Dave Lefeber was the winner and a loser. Michelle Tiddemann, Just in Time Parenting

“Just In Time Parenting” was started in 1993. The six Kiwanis Clubs in Fond du Lac County along with Agnesian Health Care, and UW Extension have been part of a supportive partnership. New parents can get a subscription through digital or surface mail. Since 2005, 7,929 infants in Fond du Lac have participated in this age paced newsletter. The new newsletter have has changed and expanded to get contributions from nine state and be available to children up to age five. Future efforts are working to include adoptive parents, prenatal audience with health care providers and survey on use and applicability of the newsletter.
