Kiwanis Details Update

Monday Morning

There were 16 members at our Monday meeting .Steve and Charlene were our greeters. Jackie had the grace. Steve had the humor.  Dawn announced that the District WI-UM convention is in Fond du Lac August 18-20th.  She is looking for attendees and volunteers to work the event. Bonnie announced that we are landscaping for Habitat on July 18 from 4:00 to 7:30.  Back to school program will be August 5th and August 26th.  John was a winner and small winner. He drew the ten of spades for $10.00. There are 48 cards left and a pot of $30.00.  Remember that we have a Kiwanis web page and Facebook. Board Meeting Recap

Dan recapped the Membership Committee survey. If you need a copy contact Dan. The rescheduled picnic is 5 – 8 at Deneuve Shelter on July 19th. Contact Charlene to attend. Bring your shovel, rake, and gloves to 501 Farwell Ave to help with landscaping on July 18th. Sign up with Bonnie for the Dock In addition; she has signup sheets for Back to School programs on August 5th and 26th. Harry reported that we made almost $28,000.00 at Walleye. Total numbers of volunteer hours were over 1000 hours. We donated $2,500 to Band Boosters and $500.00 to Family Resource Center for their help. Fondue Fest is cancelled this year. We move on to Pork Fest on September 28th. We will need your help on the 27th and 28th. In addition don’t forget to get your cake recipe ready.  Gary Miller has scheduled an interclub for Ripon Morning on Wednesday July 19th. Creating and Cultivating Bookworms

Monday Morning

There were 11 members plus one guest at our Monday meeting.   Marianne Geiger was our speaker. Dan was our greeter. Gary had the grace. Steve had the humor. No happy bucks, it was snowy outside. Bonnie was a winner and non- winner. She drew the ace of clubs. We still have 29 cards, 5 winners and a pot of $300.00.    Side note – Del is at home and loves visitors. He will have leg surgery on March 17th. West Bend German night is March 28th.    Remember that we have a Kiwanis web page and Facebook. Marianne Geiger, Wisconsin Bookworms

Recipe for a “Love of Reading”. Mix : 170 students from ages 3 to 5, give them 8 new books free per year, 20 volunteer readers. This reading program is a collaboration of: Fond du Lac County Association for Home and Community Education (HCE), UW Cooperative Extension Family Living Programs, and Wisconsin Public Television. In addition they get a tote bag fort their eight books. We donated one book for the program. Our book was Puddle Pug by Kim Norman. In case, you want to buy for your library. The 170 students are from “Head Start” in Fond du Lac and Early Childhood Class in Ripon. The readers also plan a craft activity in conjunction with the book read. In their seventeen years of reading, they have helped 2,615 children with 22, 000 books. If you wish to read or donate, contact Marianne at 948-9431.

United to Help

Monday Morning

There were 14 members at our Monday meeting plus one guest, Amber Kilawee. Amber was our guest speaker.  John and Bonnie were our greeters. Glen had grace. Harry had the humor. Happy bucks came from Bonnie, Sharon, Jim and Dan. Jim won again and drew the queen of diamonds, no winner.  We have 40cards, 6 winners and a pot of $150.00. Amber Kilawee, United Way

Amber Kilawee Director of the Fond du Lac United Way was our program on Monday. The fund Raising Committee presented a check for $800.00 from proceeds of Fondue Fest. United Way funded over $570,000 last year. There are twenty six different agencies from Habitat to Astop. In between, there is Senior Center, Girl Scouts, YMCA and Catholic Charities to name a few. Almost 30,000 individuals are served by United Way agencies. Harry’s check presentation photo and a link to their video (Fred) are on our Facebook.
