Kiwanis Happenings – January 12

Sorry for the absence, but there hasn’t been a lot of news over the last two weeks due to the roundtable meetings that were in held instead of our normal meetings, but this week we got back to business with special guest Andrea Welsch from the FDL Children’s Museum.

Monday
We had 21 members and our guest speaker Andrea Welsch from the FDL Children’s Museum for our first regular meeting of the New Year at the Ramada Hotel. Our newest member, Pat Friedel, was inducted in our Club to make our membership 41 members. Pat was sponsored by Pete Vercouteren. “Happy Bucks” were offered by Sharon Kollman, thankful to be back, and by Pete Vercouteren also thankful for Sharon being back and also for Pat’s induction as our newest member. Bonnie Baerwald asked the Club if we’d like to participate in the “First Lady’s Project” which is to collect food for local food pantries. The general consensus at the Board level was to participate so the food collections for January will be to the Solutions Center, February for the Church of Peach Loaves & Fishes, March to Broken Bread, and April to the FDL Food Pantry Food for Thought & Family Resource Center. Bring donations to our Monday meeting until you hear differently. John Cooper was the 50/50 Raffle winner but he drew a four of diamonds. Not a winner so everyone has a chance again next week.

Andrea Welsch, FDL Children’s Museum
Andrea Welsch, Executive Director of the FDL Children’s Museum thanked us for our generous donation last year that sponsored the Free Fun Day in April. Andrea gave us a synopsis of this event and how important it was for a number of first time visitors. Andrea also gave us a number of insights into the first four years of operations at the Museum. Thanks, Andrea, for all you do for the children of Fond du Lac.
