State Senator Jessica King Visits

Monday Morning
We had 20 members and our guest speaker, State Senator Jessica King, at our Monday morning meeting. Gary Miller thanked Jackie King, his wife Donna and Ron and Joan Seidl for helping him out at the Harvest Moon Stroll last Saturday at Rienzi Cemetery. Bonnie Baerwald had a “Happy Buck” for her visit last week to see “Micky & Minnie” in sunny Florida. John Cooper also had a “Happy Buck” for his week on Sanibel Island, also in Florida. There was some mention of 80 degree days coming back to early winter. Gary Miller reminded members to let either him or Glen Treml know if you attended the Noon Club Pancake Day last Thursday so we can give you an attendance credit. He also reminded members to watch for the Evening Club Spaghetti Dinner at the KC Hall on November 14th. That also can count as an attendance credit and possibly even an InterClub. Chris Serres was the 50/50 Raffle winner, and she drew the King of Spades. While that wasn’t a winner it does take another card out of the deck. Next week’s drawing will have 48 cards with nine pay cards and a pot of at least $59.

Jessica King, Wisconsin State Senator
State Senator Jessica King joined us on Monday morning to talk about her re-election campaign. Jessica King was born and raised in Fond du Lac County by disabled parents, and overcame many life challenges at a young age. Becoming a ward of the state at age 15, Jessica put herself through college with hard work and scholarships. Jessica earned several academic and leadership honors during her college career at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. After college King pursued a law degree and graduated from Thomas Jefferson Law School.
In 2004 Jessica came back to Oshkosh to help with her parents as they battled cancer and kidney failure. King wanted to give back to the community that had given so much to her and became very involved in several community groups. She has served as an adjunct professor at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. In 2005 Jessica was awarded the Outstanding Organization Advisor Award for her mentorship of undergraduates involved in various extra-curricular programs.
