Helping Young People Reach the Heights

Monday Morning

There were 17 members at our Monday meeting .Dawn was our greeter. Sharon  had the grace. Charlene had the humor.  Dawn announced that the District WI-UM convention is in Fond du Lac August 18-20th.  She is looking for attendees and volunteers to work the event.   We did have a winner and a loser. However, I forgot to write the name down. There are 47 cards left and a pot of $72.00.  Remember that we have a Kiwanis web page and Facebook. If you are on Facebook, like our page.  We have a projector for our speakers; please contact John if you need it. Speaking of programs for the future, get information to Jackie or myself. Member names are being added under Programs for your future dates.

Peter Vercouteren, EAA Young Eagles

Young Eagles started in 1992. It was a way to inspire the next generation of aviators. Chuck Jaeger was the first chairman and the goal was to fly one million Young Eagles. To date they have flow over 1.8 million young aviators. Pete has flown between 100/150 kids. If you have some one that wants to sign up, contact Pete or go to In Addition, Pete volunteers at the Fond du Lac airport during EAA. This runs from the 24th to 30th this year. About 250 planes will park at the Fond du Lac airport. They have enough traffic to get a temporary tower. Some of the highlights of EAA Air Venture this year are the B2 Spint, B1 Lancer, B52 Stratfortress. Airbus A400M, Restored B29 and the Warbirds.
