Helping the Back Bay Get Back on Its Feet

Monday Morning

There were 15 members at our Monday meeting. The greeter was Dan Leeds. Mark led us in grace. John and Steve had the humor. Happy bucks came from Pete and Gary Miller. We have all kinds of fund raisers, Gary Ring for Grief Relief, and Pete for South Shore Coracle on April 23 & 24th. Our speaker picked Bob again. He picked the Ace of diamonds for a non-winner. Next Monday’s 50/50 Raffle will have 24 cards in the game including the five pay cards with a pot of about $360.  We have a projector for our speakers; please contact Gary Miller if you need it. We have donated money to support Dream Catchers. They have two games in May, the 7th and 21st. Save the dates, more detail on the group to follow.

Back Bay Mission, Biloxi, MS

Where did you go on spring break? Pete and Gary Ring took a mission trip to Biloxi. They helped with both the aftermath of Katrina and poverty of the area. Biloxi was hit with a water surge of twenty one feet and waves of thirty four feet. Good news, all of the cement slabs have been removed. The Micah Center helps with jobs for the homeless, food pantry, and serve both breakfast and lunch. They do laundry for the homeless also. The area is known for scrimping. Which is not good every year? In addition, they have Kessler Air Force Base.  The new industry is casinos. They were able to purchase a lot of vacant land for new casinos.
