Fond du Lac County Dept of Public Health Sends Rep

Monday Morning
We had 16 members and three guests at our Monday morning meeting. Joining us were two Horace Mann High School Key Clubbers, Michael Friedel and Michaela Olson and our guest speaker, Diane Cappozzo, FDL County Public Health Nurse. Bob Kahl had a “Happy $” for his son, Rob’s, recent Assembly election victory with 71% of the vote. Dan Leeds was happy as well, but he didn’t have a dollar, as his eldest son graduated from basic Air Force training over the weekend. Gary Miller reminded members of the Evening Club Spaghetti Dinner at the KC Hall on Wednesday evening, November 14th. Attendance can count as an attendance credit and possibly even an InterClub. Let Gary Miller or Glen Treml know if you attend. Gary Miller was the 50/50 Raffle winner and he drew the Seven of Hearts. While that wasn’t a winner, it does take another card out of the deck. Next week’s drawing will have 46 cards with nine pay cards and a pot of at least $82.

Diane Cappozzo, Fond du Lac County Public Health Department
Diane Cappozzo has been with the Fond du Lac County Health Department (PHD) for the past 30 years and she joined us on Monday morning to tell us about what the PHD is up to. The mission of the PHD is to prevent disease, protect the community, and promote healthy living for all. Their vision is to be a community leader in:

  • Detecting, investigating and preventing infectious disease
  • Identifying health issues facing Fond du Lac County residents
  • Collaborating with community partners to improve the health of all
  • Connecting people to needed health resources

They will accomplish this through assessment, advocacy, education, policy development, surveillance and service delivery. Diane then went on to talk about several programs that her department is currently involved with like the Save-A-Smile Program – A children’s’ dental program created to meet the basic preventative and restorative dental needs of Fond du Lac County residents, 18 years and younger, on Medical Assistance.
