Are You Up for a Challenge?

Monday Morning

There were 14 members and four guests. Our guests were Alex Berg, Scott Rodman, Ben Giles, and Vicente Morales. Charlene did the grace. Mark and Dan were our greeters. Harry had humor. Happy bucks, Gary and Pete had dollars for the great concert. John had a happy buck for getting candy from Steve in the parade. Dave and Pete presented a check for $500 to Alex Berg for Drug Free Communities. Bell ringing signup for December 3rd is started, thanks for all who rang bells Monday night. Remember you can ring more than once during the month of December. Pete was winner and loser. He picked the King of Hearts. There are 51 cards left with a pot of $10.00. Challenge Day, Scott Rodman

Challenge Day at Fond du Lac High was held Nov. 26th & 28th. They had 92 students the first day and 108 the second day.  Scott is the local coordinator. He was on the committee in 2009, 2010 and 2017. Both Vicente and Ben were participants as freshman in those programs and volunteers the last two years.   Challenge Day is an inter-active Anti Bulling Workshop to break down the walls of separation, isolation and loneliness that young people experience and to create an ambiance encouraging honest communication about issues that divide them. The first Challenge Day was held in Livermore California in 1987. The founders were our facilitators this year. Challenge Day was held in the small gymnasium of the high school. They were be led by these two highly trained facilitators from the California. They host hundred students and thirty adult volunteers per session.

Brewing a Locally Sourced Beer

There were 15 members and two guests. Our guests were Richard Pettit and Bryce Retzer. Harry did the grace. Charlene and Richard Pettit were our greeters. Pete and Gary Ring installed Rachel Hays as our newest member. Don’t forget that Pete and Gary Miller will be staring in the South Shore Coracle on December 1st.  Popcorn has been delivered. Special thanks to Harry for all his work and all who purchased the popcorn. Remember if you need more Faris Popcorn, they have a store on Scott St. Bell ringing signup for December 3rd is started; see Mark for the sign up. Remember you can ring more than once during the month of December. Harry was winner and winner again. He drew the Queen of Hearts. He donated the pot to the Christmas pot for holiday food. Ledgerrock Distillery, Bryce Retzer

Ledgerock is owned by Jay and Heidi Retzer. Their oldest son, Bryce is the manager. The distillery is part of their 500 acre farm. Because it is illegal to make whiskey in their basement, Jay decided to start his own distillery. Their first corn mash was done on Good Friday. They have vodka, gin and moonshine. They were all made from their own corn. As soon as their label is approved, they will open a barrel of baby bourbon made from their own wheat. There will be around 300 bottles and they are taking reservations right now for Christmas. Badger Liquor is handling distribution of their product in the Fond du Lac area. Other activities at the distillery are painting, kettle bells, wooden wonders and yoga. They are open Wednesday to Saturday from 11 – 5. And on Sunday, they are open 12 – 4.

How Fondy High Makes a Difference in Our City

There were 16 members and seven guests at Monday’s meeting. Matt Steinbarth was our speaker. Key Clubbers here were Hannah Juslin, Emma Bahr, Austin Clark, Daniela Rivera, and Ashley Waldvogel. Key Club Advisors here were Chris Stelmacher and Mandy Liebenow.  Dan did the grace. Steve had any humor. Chris had a happy buck for a great start to the Key Club year. Steve had a happy buck for two great high school football high games and money towards Trent’s funeral. Pete had a buck for a great vacation. Harry has the popcorn sheets out. Get your popcorn orders to Harry. Bell ringing signup for December 3rd is started. Sharon was winner and loser. She drew eight of diamonds. There are 45 cards left with a pot of $55.00. Fond du Lac High School, Matt Steinbarth

This is Matt’s second year as principal at Fondy High. He started out as an algebra teacher. He moved to assistant principal at Woodworth, principal Lakeshore and now high school principal. Fond du Lac high school opened 2001. It is the largest high school per building size in the state. Their population is 2,070. Their PAC is the best in the area. Forty two business helped build a new ACE Trades building. Interesting fact, they have gone from 12% free lunch to 50%. To help with school spirit and pride, all students this year got a Fondy Pride t–shirt. They are increasing college credit courses to help students get out of college faster. In addition to sports and sport clubs, they have two rope courses and a great weight room. They will host Challenge Day to help eliminate bullying. In addition to the principal, they have four assistant principals, two police officers and many more teachers including our own Chris Stelmacher and Mandy Liebenow.
